This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Camden Cleaner in respect of our financial year and outlines the steps we take to identify, prevent, and address modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. Camden Cleaner provides professional cleaning services and recognises that every organisation has a responsibility to respect human rights and uphold fair and safe working conditions.
Camden Cleaner has a strict zero-tolerance policy to all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, servitude, and human trafficking. We are committed to conducting our business in an ethical and responsible manner and to ensuring that modern slavery does not take place in any part of our operations or supply chains. This commitment is embedded in our policies, our decision making, and our expectations of employees, contractors, and suppliers.
All individuals working for or on behalf of Camden Cleaner are expected to uphold this policy and to act with integrity at all times. Any breach of our zero-tolerance policy is treated as a serious matter and may result in disciplinary action, termination of contracts, and, where appropriate, notification to relevant authorities.
Camden Cleaner operates primarily within the cleaning and facilities services sector. Our supply chains include, but are not limited to, the sourcing of cleaning products and equipment, uniforms, facilities management services, and professional support services such as recruitment and training. We recognise that some of these areas, particularly low-skilled labour and the sourcing of certain products, can carry an elevated risk of labour exploitation if not carefully monitored.
We conduct ongoing risk assessments of our business activities and supply chains to identify areas where the risk of modern slavery may be higher. Factors considered include geographic location, type of service or product being supplied, and the use of subcontracted or temporary labour.
Camden Cleaner expects all suppliers to share our commitment to preventing modern slavery. As part of our due diligence, we require new key suppliers to confirm that they operate in compliance with applicable labour and human rights laws and that they do not tolerate forced or trafficked labour. We reserve the right to carry out audits of suppliers, which may include reviewing their labour practices, recruitment processes, and employment documentation. Where non-compliance or unacceptable risk is identified, we work with suppliers to implement corrective actions, and we may cease the relationship if satisfactory improvements are not made.
Our corporate policies, including those on ethical conduct, recruitment, and whistleblowing, support our efforts to prevent modern slavery. We aim to recruit employees directly wherever possible and, when using recruitment agencies, we require them to demonstrate robust practices to prevent exploitation.
We provide training and guidance to relevant employees, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment, and contract management, to help them recognise indicators of modern slavery and understand how to respond to concerns. Awareness materials are made available to staff so that they understand their responsibilities and know how to raise issues safely.
Camden Cleaner encourages anyone working for us or connected to our business to report any suspicions or concerns related to modern slavery or human trafficking. Concerns may include signs of coercion, withholding of identity documents, unusual restrictions on movement, or evidence of workers not receiving fair pay.
Concerns can be raised through internal reporting channels or directly to management. We treat all reports seriously and, where appropriate, investigate promptly and sensitively. We do not tolerate victimisation of any person who raises a concern in good faith, and we are committed to protecting their confidentiality as far as is reasonably possible.
Camden Cleaner recognises that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing process that requires continual vigilance and improvement. We are committed to regularly reviewing and enhancing our policies, risk assessments, and due diligence procedures to reflect evolving best practice and legal requirements.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually by senior management to assess the effectiveness of our actions, identify areas for improvement, and agree on future priorities. Any significant changes to our operations or supply chains, or emerging risks identified through audits and reports, will inform updates to this statement and our wider approach.
This statement has been approved by the leadership of Camden Cleaner, who take overall responsibility for ensuring that it is implemented and communicated throughout the organisation and to relevant external stakeholders.
